CSS is a business unit of Columbus Community Center, a 501 3 (c) non profit association. CSS provides businesses with a value added service while creating employment opportunities for the disabled in the Salt Lake Community.

In order to help create more employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Columbus Community Center founded Columbus Secure Shredding. This business unit provides employment for numerous individuals with disabilities.

The demand for opportunities of indidivudals with disabilities is strong:

• 1 in 5 people in the United States, or 20 percent of the population, have disabilities.
• People with disabilities face many obstacles in thier daily lives. They have a harder time accessing health care, transportation, education, and the daily social activities many of us take for granted.
• The unemployment rate among people with disabilities is 65%, which has far reaching effects - a higher poverty rate, isolation from the larger community, and a limted opportunity to develop skils.

CSS and its affiliates are the only NAID AAA certified plant based destruction facilites in the state of Utah.
