Emergency Action Plan  
     
 
  • In addition to our routine security procedures, there are also contingency plans in place for different emergencies. These emergency plans include: bomb threats, general evacuation, fire reporting, medical emergencies, notification procedure for deaths, media-related events, weather related situation, power failure, earthquakes, vehicle security (for breakdowns and accidents).

This Emergency action plan includes the following:

Emergency Response Overview explains the need for emergency response procedures and how emergencies are dealt with using the Emergency Response Strategy. The Department Emergency Information Form contains the essential information for each department’s personnel. This form is completed and updated annually, or sooner if necessary, by each department/unit Emergency Coordinator.

Specific procedures include the following:

  • Emergency Reporting
  • Evacuation alarm requirements
  • Building detection systems
  • On-site fire fighting equipment
  • Roles of all personnel

Site specific information

This includes structures and floors, noting stairs, exits, assembly areas, and locations of firefighting equipment, locations of first aid equipment, locations of bodily fluid clean-up kits, and an alternate site relocation plan.

Procedures for developing and revising plans

The emergency coordinator assists each department in the development of a Department Emergency Procedures Plan. This plan will assist staff, employees, participants, and visitors in responding appropriately to emergency situations.
